Bio
Natalie Exora, a talented musician originally from Trinidad, now makes her creative home in Toronto. As a teenager in a local band, she opened for major global acts and more recently, a series of collaborations with Canadian Juno artists. A defining moment for her as a songwriter came when she performed with Canadian guitar legend, Rik Emmett of Triumph. His advice to her was simple “You need to sing.”
Natalie has just debuted her first island song, Sweet Salty Love. A tribute to the land that raised her and the sound she grew up on. Prior to that, her first two singles were “What are you waiting for?” - an infectious synth pop song with a hint of 80s nostalgia and her follow-up “Perfect." An anthemic dream-pop ballad had Canada’s most followed music critic, Darryl Sterdan musing, Perfect is “A silky, supple slice of pop balladry” asking “What’s the use of having it all if I can’t have you?” in lyrics that turn Madonna’s Material Girl stand upside-down and inside-out.
Her last release came as an innovative double-sided single – “Nightlight” and “Nightlight (the Flipside)”. Here Exora explored the idea of motherhood and how it was too simplistic to be expressed in just one way. Side A, Nightlight is an energetic, fun, EDM - laced dance party. Side B, Nightlight (the Flipside) is emotional, raw, and vulnerable stripped-back piano ballad. Just as in life, some days you dance it out and some days you cry it out. Nightlight – one song, two sides. And now, Exora has just released her first cover of the iconic 90s track, More Than Words by Extreme.
With over 50,000 streams on Spotify this year, steady radio rotation in the Caribbean, interviews on National morning shows, Trinidad's #1 Daily the Trinidad Express, Canadian/ US press coverage in Canadian Beats, Young Entertainment Magazine, BK on the Scene and Cleveland.com’s new music to watch release list, fans are eagerly waiting for what Natalie Exora will create next.
